Grand Rapids rolled past Moorhead 6-3 to claim the Class AA boys state hockey title last night at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. Earlier in the day Hermantown beat Monticello/Annandale/Maple Lake 4-3 in overtime to earn the Class A championship.
The St. Cloud Cathedral Crusaders (21-7-2) saw their season come to an end today, losing in the semifinals to #1 Hermantown (28-1-1) 6-5 in overtime. Hermantown will face Monticello/Annandale/Maple Lake (23-6-1) for the Class A Boys Hockey Championship tomorrow at Noon at the Xcel Energy Center.
Following quarterfinal action at the Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournament in St. Paul, the final four teams in both classes are set and ready to make a run at the state titles. Good luck to both Cathedral and Monticello/Annandale/Maple Lake.
The 2017 Minnesota High School State Hockey Tournament brackets have been set following the remaining section finals last night. The Class A tourney will get underway this Wednesday, with the Class AA schools dropping the puck on Thursday.
The Cathedral Crusaders beat the Alexandria Cardinals 3-2 in the Section 6A boys hockey final Thursday night at the MAC. The Crusaders are making their second consecutive trip to the tournament and eighth appearance overall.
The 2017 Class A and Class AA Girls Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournaments hit the ice this week at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. The top seeds are Blake in Class A, and Edina in Class AA. The action starts Wednesday, with the championship games set for Saturday.
