In an article published by the smarty-pants over at WalletHub, Minnesota was determined to be the second happiest state in America -- second only to Utah. Things like financial well-being, physical & mental health, environment, social connections, outlook, jobs, volunteering, and sports participation were taken into consideration.

North Dakota, Colorado, and Nebraska rounded out the top-5. At the bottom of the list were Kentucky, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, and West Virginia.

Minnesota ranked first in 'Emotional & Physical Well-Being,' fourth in recreational activities, and second in employment. Minnesota was also found to have the second highest volunteerism rate, fifth lowest divorce rate, and third lowest crime rate.
