It isn't a surprise that 2020 has taken a toll on everyone's mental and physical health. There is a global pandemic, people have been separated from loved ones, job security is rare, travel hasn't been happening for people to get away from it all, and it seems like every other week there is a random shortage. But there is some good news: Minnesotans are doing better than most at getting some good nights sleep.

Wallethub recently conducted a survey to find the happiest state in the nation for 2020, and while Minnesota ranked 3rd overall, we ranked #1 for getting the most shut-eye. We came in at number one in that category followed by South Dakota, Colorado, Vermont, and Montana. That is a good looking group of well-rested states.

Minnesota also came in second for highest volunteer rates, and fifth for lowest divorce rates. We were also the thrid safest state based on this survey.

Overall Minnesota isn't a bad place to be to ride out one of the craziest years in history. As long as we keep looking out for our mental and physical health how we have been so far, and maybe even improve, I think we will be just fine.

Previous studies have found that good economic, emotional, physical and social health are all key to a well-balanced and fulfilled life.
