Meet Glenn Scott from Monticello, he’s our August ‘Veteran of the Month.’ Scott was nominated by his son Josh who had this to say about him;

My dad has always been there for me and I'd like to show my appreciation to that by nominating him for the veteran of the month for his time in Vietnam."

Scott joined the United States Marine Corps just out of high school in 1974. It was toward the end of the Vietnam War because he  wanted to travel the world. He didn't have any family ties to the military and he didn't have friends who were enlisted. He says he signed up and joined all by himself.

Scott is a Minnesota native who grew up farming. He decided that he wanted to try something a little different. He went to basic training in Arizona before he was sent to Okinawa, Japan.  He was also stationed in the Philippines for a short time. He says life was different than what he was used to in Minnesota. It was a different climate and a different culture. Scott spent just over two years serving his country. He says he's grateful for his experience, but was happy to finally come home. Today, he keeps his family tradition of farming alive by working on a potato farm.
