When buying gifts for that jerk who has everything, or the jerk that won't tell you what they want, or just being a jerk and buying everyone the same thing, gift cards can save the (holi)day. They're a bit more personal than straight cash (homie), and it shows that you at least try to sometimes care a little.

If you care a little, but not enough to ask what they specifically want, get them a gift card that everybody generally wants...because getting someone something that everybody wants is the best way to pretend to care while not caring that much.
