The Minnesota Vikings pulled off a stunning victory, 23-10, behind an absolutely dominant display of defense on Christmas. While the game wasn't what Netflix was hoping for, neither the Lions nor the Vikings are the division leaders they were last season; it was a great national showcase for Brian Flores and his defense. Coming out of the game, I was seeing a bunch of stats, and three really stood out to me.

Harrison Smith Turned Back The Clock

Last night, Harrison Smith turned back the clock and looked more like he was 26 instead of 36. On top of having an interception, he was flying all over the field making defensive plays, including a sack,
and is now one INT away from being tied for 3rd all time on the list for most interceptions with Minnesota.

Historically Bad QB Play In The Vikings Win

While the VIkings trotted out an undrafted rookie to start his 2nd game of his career last night, Max Brosmer wasn't on top of his game. I'm not going to point fingers because I wouldn't have been able to take the punishment he did at times against Detroit, but according to OptaStats on X, it was the worst performance in an NFL victory, ever.

If McCarthy is still out next week, will we see a change at QB?

Vikings Had Fewer Net Passing Yards Then Takeaways

If it wasn't for Brian Flores' defense coming to play last night, I'm not sure fans would have lasted long enough to see Snoop, Lainey, and Hunter/X perform at halftime. The scariest stat of the night for me was that the defense came up with more takeaways than the offense had in net passing yards. The Vikings had 6 takeaways, while the offense had 3 net passing yards. It was actually sitting at -7 yards until Brosmer hit Jefferson for a quick 10 yards towards the end of the game.
