ESPN's Centers of the U.S. Hockey Universe
- Minneapolis-Saint Paul
- New York City
While there are other contenders for the throne, it's hard to argue against the Twin Cities as the center of the hockey universe. The Wild, Gophers, Whitecaps, and state high school tournament all call the Twin Cities home.
As for Edina; they have the most state AA hockey titles with thirteen (with three 2nd place finishes and three 3rd place endings). The Edina girls have won the state AA title the past three seasons. The article goes on to dish out plenty more reasons why Edina deserves the top spot.
In Minnesota, somewhere around 6,500 players participate in boys and girls high school hockey.
The 2020 Minnesota State Hockey Tournaments are here; with the girls tourney starting today -- followed by the boys on March 4th. Both are played at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
