How about some positive news for your Monday? A local car dealership was 'sharing the love' this afternoon, to the tune of $94,000 going towards the Greater St. Cloud Public Safety Foundation, AND serving up smiles for kids with a new playground and Mr. Twisty's!

A Decade Plus Of Sharing The Love

St. Cloud Subaru has been taking part in the Subaru Share The Love event for years. How that event works is that for every car sold between November and January at St. Cloud Subaru, a portion of the sale goes towards the local "Share The Love" fund.

Four years ago, St. Cloud Subaru had seleceted 'Place Of Hope' as it's local recipient, and while this year's Share The Love event proceeds went to the Great St. Cloud Public Safety Foundation, the people at 'Place Of Hope' were still on the minds of staff at St. Cloud Subaru.

$94K Going To Support Local Heroes

This year, St. Cloud Subaru General Manager Bobby Konnight told me that the 'Share The Love' event proceeds exceeded $90,000, with nearly $95,000 going towards the Greater St. Cloud Public Safety Foundation!

In addition to the men and women of the Public Safety Foundation being on hand to accept the ceremonial check, St. Cloud Subaru also brought in Mr. Twisty's to share with their neighbors at 'Place Of Hope'.

St. Cloud Subaru also did some independent fundraising for a playground to be installed at 'Place Of Hope', the staff teamed up with Rainbow playground equipment to purchase a playset, and then on a Friday afternoon, staff from St. Cloud Subaru took time to put it together and install it behind the basketball court, giving the neighborhood kids something to do other than shoot hoops.

In addition to the playset that was bought and installed by St. Cloud Subaru, in the fall Bobby and his team took kids from 'Place Of Hope' over to Sierra for some back-to-school shopping.

What Is Place Of Hope?

Place of Hope, according to their website, offers up "Shelter/Transitional Programming services for those experiencing homelessness and other life-altering issues" in the St. Cloud area. Place of Hope Compassionate Hope Family Center is located at 121 Park Ave S, behind St. Cloud Subaru.

The St. Cloud United Way describes Place of Hope as being "a multi-faceted outreach program serving the Central Minnesota community. Many people in our community are in great need of support and services because of homelessness, poverty, drug addiction, alcoholism, and other crises. We provide HOPE in the form of a Hospitality Center with free food, free medical care, free clothing, & free personal care items."

70,000 Can Feel Like 7,000 Sometimes

A town the size of St. Cloud, 70,000+ residents, doesn't always feel like 70,000. When you hear stories about businesses like St. Cloud Subaru seeing a need and just filling that need, it feels more like a town of 7,000 residents.

And it's not just St. Cloud Subaru going above and beyond, you see and hear about other dealerships, businesses, and companies stepping up to do the right thing monthly, if not weekly, here in Central Minnesota.

Spread the Love this summer

Take a page from the guys and gals over at St. Cloud Subaru and spread some love this summer. It might be holding the door for someone coming in, offering up a kind word, or taking a neighbor or co-worker to lunch.
