What’s This Object In The Sidewalk Outside Of Aldi’s In Waite Park?
Last night I was out running errands when I had to stop and grab some items for dinner. We were out in the area of Aldi's in Waite Park, so we stopped to grab what we needed real quick, and on the way back to the car, I noticed a bronze-looking object on the sidewalk. I quickly snapped a picture, and I am stumped as to what it could mean.
Google Has Some Ideas As To What This Is
I honestly forgot about the picture that I took until I got to work this morning, and when I saw it, I ran it through Google Lens. Let's just say that didn't help much, as Lens first thought it was from Paris, France.
After a little more information added, like the location of the photo, Google Lens felt what I saw was a "brass survey marker, also known as a geodetic monument or benchmark."
What that means is it might be something that a city engineer or land surveyor uses as a reference point for elevation, geographic coordinates for public infrastructure, or a property boundary.
I Asked Waite Park What It Is
I took what I got from Google and have asked the City of Waite Park if they know what the object is.
I honestly don't know, everytime I've visited this store, I know I've noticed it, but always thought it was some sort of inground outlet, or possibly related to the store, but when I asked employees inside, they didn't have any idea.
Do you know what this is in the ground outside Aldi's in Waite Park?

Send me your guesses through the app, and when I get the correct answer, I'll be sure to share.
