ST. CLOUD - From EMS, to fire fighters, to police officers St. Cloud honored its first reponders Tuesday evening.

Fire Chief Dean Wrobbel says keeping the residents safe is a team effort.

All of the fire fighters standing behind me make my job easy and I'm here to support them. And I want to give them a big thank you. And, also all the partners we have throughout the city as far as department heads and all the people.

And, Police Chief Blair Anderson added it has been a challenging year.

A lot of challenging things happened in 2016, chief among them obviously being the mall attacks. I mention this not as a focal point, but for this reason; I received a tremendous amount of praise for the response and how that was handled, that praise is rightfully theirs.

The appreciation event was hosted by St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis and was held at the City Council Chambers. The evening included a couple of musical performances, and and refreshments provided by the Crossroads Mall.
