Pete’s Blog: The ‘No Regrets’ Formula
Whether we realize it or not, we are in a large part, a product of every single experience that has been a part of our life up to this point. The good, the bad, and the ugly. All of them. Most of them we probably don’t even remember, but put them all on the table and roll them in to one big ball of experiences, and what you get is; well, you.
Now here’s the thing. Let’s assume that you like the life you have, and who you are, and the people that are in your world today. Then I would suggest that you have to embrace and be thankful for all of those events and experiences in your life. The good, the bad, and the ugly. All of them.
Here’s why. If A, and B, and C, and D, and E, and F, and G, and H are all the experiences in your life, then A+B+C+D+E+F+G+H = You. Take away C (and let’s say C was the best moment in your life so far), and you are suddenly not the same ‘you’ that you are right now.
The same is also true if you take away F (and let’s say F was the worst moment in your life so far), and again you are suddenly not the same ‘you’ anymore.
That’s not to say that there haven’t been horrible moments in all of our lives, but we can’t deny that if they hadn’t happened, we’d different people today. It may be a big difference. It may be an unrecognizable difference, but there would be a difference.
So if you like the life you have, and who you are, and the people that are in your world today, then there is absolutely no point to regretting pieces of your past, because without the good, the bad, and the ugly; you wouldn’t be; well, you.
