Sure I have been lucky, we all have at one time or another. We have probably been the victims of some really bad luck too. There are lucky ducks, good luck charms, and the luck of the Irish. I just wonder how to know when it’s really luck, and when it’s something else entirely. Have you ever noticed that the harder we work, the ‘luckier’ we are?

Some people just seem to have ‘all the luck.’ They are constantly falling into the best situations. Time and time again, they seem to be in the right place at the right time. How can some people be so darned lucky?

My answer: Most of the time it’s probably preparation and hard work disguised as luck.

Preparation ensures that we are ready to take advantage of situations when they arise. How many times in sports do we see a play that looks like the luckiest thing we’ve ever seen? Nope, probably not luck or chance. More likely the result of a lifetime of preparation.
