If goals were eggs, the Lumberjacks would be very wealthy. The Granite City Lumberjacks had an offensive explosion over the weekend, netting 22 goals throughout 3 games, and the cross-town Norsemen took 2 of 3 games this week from the North Iowa Bulls. Here's your recap from the ice this weekend.

Granite City Lumberjacks Sweep

The Granite City Lumberjacks were wearing out the goal horn both at home and on the road this weekend as they team scored 22 goals between Friday night and Sunday, as well as putting on the miles as the team made their final trip to Willmar this season.

The Jacks won Friday night, 9-1, against a team in the Minnesota Moose that has been somewhat of a thorn for the Jacks this year. After the rousing win Friday night at home, the Jacks stuck around the Benton County Fairgrounds for a Saturday night game against Willmar, that saw the Jacks black the Warhawks 4-0.

Sunday night the Jacks were playing again, this time out in Willmar, and while the welcome wasn't warm for the visiting team they weren't phased, as the Jacks handled business winning 9-1.

There is just one game remaining on the regular season schedule for the Lumberjacks, and that is this Friday night in Alexandria against the Blizzard, a game that could be chippy between the two teams, so if you like physical hockey you might want to hit the road to watch.

The Lumberjacks have secured a spot in the playoffs.

St. Cloud Norsemen Take 2 of 3 Against North Iowa

The Norsemen were also playing 3 games this week, with their first game happening on Wednesday, a make up game from November, that saw the Norsement travel down to Mason City. The Norsemen made the most of that road trip winning 4-3.

Friday night the Norsemen were back at home, and they got the win against the North Iowa Bulls 5-1.

Saturday night back in Mason City, the Norsement fell 4-1.

Right now on the season the Norsemen are in 4th place in the Central, which would mean if the season ended today they would be in the playoffs. But the season isn't over yet and the team 2 points behind the Norsemen welcome St. Cloud next weekend in Aberdeen.

The next home series for the Norsemen will be on March 14 and 15th as they welcome in the Bismarck Bobcats to the MAC.
