Granite City Lumberjacks Win 5th Championship By Blanking Louisiana
The Granite City Lumberjacks are adding one for the thumb. The local junior hockey team earned its way to Missouri last week by winning the West Division, and they had one thing on their minds: another Fraser Cup. The Lumberjacks didn't leave Missouri without it, winning their 5th NA3HL Championship Sunday afternoon.
Faced Adversity To Get To Championship Game
The Lumberjacks faced some adversity when they arrived in Missouri, dropping their first game on March 25 to the Texas Brahmas 5-2. Knowing they would have to win their next game, the Jacks got to chopping wood, netting 10 goals against the Long Beach Sharks, winning 10-2.

With their lone loss in pool play, the Lumberjacks were a 2 seed in the semifinals, going up against a familiar foe in the Rochester Grizzlies. That game needed extra time, but the Lumberjacks knocked off the Grizzlies, 4-3.
A Shutout Victory For The Lumberjacks
The Lumberjacks blanked the Louisiana Drillers 4-0 in the championship game, quite the feat for Granite City, as the Drillers had come into the championship game having already scored 6 and 4 goals in previous games.
The Louisiana Drillers, who won the Fraser Cup last year, finished the regular season with an overall record of 46-0-1.
Something No Other Team Has Accomplished
With the championship, the Granite City Lumberjacks are the first team in NA3HL history to have won 5 championships, with the other titles coming in 2012, 2015, 2017, 2023, and now 2026.
Fans of the Lumberjacks can look forward to another Fraser Cup sitting inside the Miller Buick GMC rink on the Benton County Fairgrounds.
