On Monday afternoon, a mysterious 'red' streak appeared on a large stretch of Minnesota freeway, and according to social media, there are a bunch of theories of how such a lengthy streak came to be.

What Could The Red Substance Be?

Various theories were floated in the thread with attached photos as to what could have created such a colorful addition to the freeway.

Reddit user Beermaker hypothesized that "An LTL delivery truck with a 200-gallon tote of some sort of red liquid on it probably sprung a leak."

User TurlingtonDancer thought it could be potentially hazardous. "if it’s coming from a sewage truck, perhaps the DNR would like to know about this edit: pollution control agency"

User EternlGladiator mused, "Gotta be a beet truck."

It Went From South St. Paul To Blaine

According to the OP bowl-of-cereal- "Repost since everyone thinks that it’s a dead animal, It stretched from south st. paul to Blaine I feel like an animal carcass wouldn’t have held on that long. It looks more like paint than animal remains. We followed it all the way to blaine."

The post went on to show an additional picture, which showed a drain cleaning truck. I reached out to MnDOT and their media specialist to see if the department was aware of the red streak and if there were any public health concerns in regards to what was allegedly on the road.
