A popular family-friendly event held at a Twin Cities area airport has been cancelled. The organization behind the event posted the disappointing news to social media this weekend, but noted that a fundraising opportunity is still ongoing.

Wings of the North Cancels AirFair

Wings of the North, a nonprofit aviation museum located at Flying Cloud Airport in Eden Prairie, took to social media this weekend to share that a family-friendly event, AirFair, would be canceled for the year due to some unique challenges.

Some of the issues that Wings of the North faced were "a lack of available show aircraft and the unavailability of suitable hangar space for the event".

Formerly Known As AirExpo

The Wings of the North AirFair was previously known as Minnesota's AirExpo, one of Minnesota's largest aviation events. It was reimagined in recent years and rebranded as AirFair to be more of a hands-on experience for families.

In the past, the event has brought in historic and military aircraft to display, opportunities to get up close to airplanes and meet pilots, as well as offer up aircraft rides.

You could think of the event as being a giant open house for aviation enthusiasts.

The event was originally scheduled for July 11th at the Flying Cloud Airport in Eden Prairie.

Museum Still Open

Fans of aviation can still visit the museum run by Wings of the North at the Flying Cloud Airport; it's typically open Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Flying Cloud Airport. Admission is generally $12 for adults and $5 for children ages 7–17.

Tell Us You're From Minnesota (Without Saying You're From Minnesota)

We asked you to tell us you were from Minnesota, without actually saying you were from Minnesota. The results were very funny, and very Minnesotan -- ranging from comments about the weather and sports, to food and mosquitoes.
