Lumberjacks Roll At Home, Norsemen Put Up A Fight In Aberdeen
It was a winning weekend for the Granite City Lumberjacks as they rolled the Mason City Toros at home, extending their unbeaten streak to start the season. The Norsemen faced the top team in the division, the Aberdeen Wings, and came up short in both of their games. Here's a weekend recap for both hockey teams that call the St. Cloud area home.
Granite City Lumberjacks Continue To Chop
The Lumberjacks went into the weekend welcoming the previously 4-1 Mason City Toros to the Miller Buick GMC Arena. In what should have been a serious test for the Lumberjacks, it turned into two wins, featuring multiple players scoring goals.
On Friday night, the Lumberjacks beat the Toros 5-3. The Lumberjacks went into the final period down 2-1, but used 4 goals to power past the visitors. Scoring for the Lumberjacks on Friday were:

Others scoring for the Lumberjacks on Saturday night were:
Carter Oothoudt - 13:24 1st

Norsemen Reminded That Iron Sharpens Iron After Tough Weekend
The St. Cloud Norsemen were on the road in Aberdeen, taking on the top team in the Central Division, the Wings. While the weekend didn't go as expected for the Norsemen, the team should take away the fact that it takes iron to sharpen iron.

On Friday night, it was Aberdeen topping the Norsemen 4-2. Scoring for the Norsemen were:
Bronson Hunt - 4:23 2nd
Gabriel Bugeud - 16:02 3rd
Saturday night saw the same two teams play, but it was the Norsemen scoring first as Bronson Hunt lit the lamp at 16:14 in the first period. The Norsemen couldn't withstand the rush as the Wings won Saturday night to sweep the Norsemen in the weekend series 5-2. Also scoring for the Norsemen for the second night in a row was Gabriel Bugeaud at 2:26 in the 2nd period.
Up next for the Norsemen, they are back on the road this weekend, taking on Bismarck on Friday and Saturday.
