Honest Review: Downtown Pierz’s Newest Bar Left Us Stuffed
This weekend was Pierz Freedom Fest, which meant plenty of new faces stopping by various towns across Central Minnesota, as they were either going to the Morrison County Fairgrounds or heading home from the event. I had the chance to check out one of the newest places in Central Minnesota, Toni's Tavern, in downtown Pierz, to grab a drink or bite to eat.
Toni's Tavern Used To Be Patrick's
Toni's Tavern has taken over the former home of a familiar name to locals, Patrick's Bar, which is located at 119 Main Street in Pierz. Toni's has been open now since this past winter, but this weekend was my first real chance to grab a bite to eat and see what the vibe was like.
Food & Drink For All
We came in off the front patio area of Toni's Tavern, which is the entrance that would be right off Main Street. There is another entrance that comes in off the parking lot, but it seemed like most of the people coming in on Saturday were using the Main Street entrance.
The bar/seating area is split into two areas, the bar area closest to the road had more of a sports bar feel with all of the NFL's helmets on display in cases and quite a few TV's set to The Open. The other side had more of a small town bar vibe, and was a little quieter than the otherside, that might not always be the case, but it was on Saturday afternoon.
My wife ordered a burger off the menu, and I tried the Steak Bites special. We both enjoyed the food and ended up having a conversation with the group seated next to us at the bar. The other group was heading back out to Freedom Fest for the night and had wanted to know what we thought about the first night.
I wasn't too sticker shocked when we got the bill, which was nice to see.
Small Town Feel & Bologna Options
I liked the fact that Toni's Tavern still offered up a small-town feel. Sometimes when you go into a place that has been recently turned over, you aren't really sure how comfortable you'll be, but we felt right at home.
Toni's serves up bologna on Thursdays, so if you miss your chance on Wednesday, you can make up for it at Toni's. I should also note that Wednesdays were advertised outside as Wing Day.
For those that play pulltabs, there was a box or two, plus a dispenser available for those wanting to press their luck.

An enjoyable bar for 'townies' and visitors alike
If you haven't stopped by Toni's to give it a try, see what you think; otherwise, the area has plenty of dining options like Bootleggers, Frosty's, The Silver Bullet, Red Rooster, Red's, and Rudy's Roadhouse.
