One young Minnesotan learned a valuable lesson recently, and that lesson was that actions have consequences. The young Minnesota motorist was stopped by Chaska Police recently for going 116 miles an hour!

The Chaska Police Department posted about the traffic stop recently, making it more of a teaching moment for others in the community.

Flo from Progressive just called. She had a lot of choice words for this young man… words that the Chief says I can’t say on here. She also warned that insurance rates are not going down anytime soon - probably because of drivers that make choices like this.

This 16-year-old driver was stopped on Hwy 212 driving 116mph last night.

This is reckless, Chaska. Slow down. Speed kills.

The police department didn't state whether or not the driver was cited for their speed in the post, but I think that goes without saying after hitting speeds of over 100 miles an hour on Minnesota roads.

We've just turned the calendar, and according to the Minnesota Department of Traffic Safety, so far in 2025, Minnesota has had 27 traffic deaths. That number is down from this same time last year, as, in 2024, we already had 40 traffic deaths on Minnesota roads.

In total, more than 400 people died on Minnesota roads in all of 2024.

On my way to work this morning, I happened to notice several law enforcement vehicles conducting speed enforcement, so rather than having to pay an expensive ticket, and have higher car insurance, take some time to take a few deep breaths and slow down, you'll still get where you're going, by going the speed limit.
