This message is from the parents of four-year-old Nicholas...

Before beginning your holiday weekend, please consider giving the gift of blood to those in need.  Our family relied on this gift 22 times while our son went through treatment for cancer.  This drive is being held in honor of a 4 year old Richmond warrior who is fighting cancer for the third time in his young life.  He is currently at the U of M preparing to receive his second stem cell transplant.  So often, friends, family, and the community yearn to find a way to help a family in such a difficult situation, but don't know what to do.  This is a great way to help!   Giving blood quite literally gives life.  What an incredible gift.  According to the Red Cross, donations go down in the summer because people travel, BUT the need for blood goes up due to accidents and natural disasters.  In addition, we know that cancer doesn't take a break over the summer.  The need is constant.  Please consider starting your celebration of freedom by giving a little freedom to a stranger!  Friday, July 1st, 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Resurrection Lutheran Church. Call Mary for an appointment: 363-8622
