Help Provide Cover and Support for Our Veterans
Honoring our veterans is one of the best things we can do as a society. Afterall, because of their sacrifices, we are in the position to enjoy life as we know it and have the potential for more.
Again, this year, The American Red Cross and Gate City Bank are teaming up for their “Quilts for Veterans” project. Quilts and Fleece Blankets will be accepted to distribute to VA hospitals, homes and at the Veterans Stand Down events around the region.
This project will run from September 11th until November 11th, donations can be dropped off at any Gate City Bank location during that period.
Those dates are significant for Americans. Of course, September 11th being the date of the worst terrorist attack on American soil, and November 11th, of course is Veterans Day.
This is the third year for this project that asks for donations of quilts and blankets that will help keep our Veterans warm and let them know that people haven’t forgotten their service or sacrifice.
“We’re proud to continue this valued project supporting our brave veterans and all they’ve given to defend our freedom” said Karin Luchsinger, Senior Vice President of Gate City Bank Checking and Customer Engagement.
Kimberly Vosseteig, Executive Director of the American Red Cross for Northwestern Minnesota and Eastern North Dakota added “This community partnership makes a significant difference in the lives of veterans”.
Here are the requirements for the quilts and blankets that will be donated:
The quilts/fleece blankets must be new; either made from new material or a new quilt or blanket that has been purchased
Preferably the size will be 60” x 80” with neutral, masculine or patriotic themes
These quilts and blankets must be sturdy enough to withstand washing in industrial washing machines that are used in hospitals and care facilities.
The last two years, hundreds of quilts and blankets have been donated through this partnership between The American Red Cross and Gate City Bank.
Help spread the word about this effort that will have a positive impact on those who have given so much to our country.
