Sirens Sound in St. Cloud Area as Storm Warnings are Issued Saturday

ST. CLOUD -- A long line of thunderstorms rolled through central Minnesota Saturday evening prompting severe thunderstorm warnings and tornado warnings across the region.

Southeastern Stearns County was under a tornado warning from approximately 8:25 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Stearns County Emergency Management Director Erin Hausauer says the tornado warning triggered the tornado sirens in the St. Cloud area, but there's no indication any tornadoes actually tocuhed down.

Hausauer says they received a report of some storm damage in the Kimball area. It's unclear if a tornado actually touched down there, however. Damage appeared to be minimal with roofing debris found in town. The damage assessment won't be completed until after daybreak. No other damage was reported in Stearns County and no other storm damage reports were immediately available.

Storms dumped heavy rain and hail, and brought strong winds to several communities as the line of strong thunderstorms pushed through the area.

The National Weather Service issued approximately a dozen tornado warnings in west-central and central Minnesota counties Saturday night.
