Circle K Is Replacing Holiday Stores Across Minnesota

Fans of a Minnesota-based convenience store are beginning to have a hard time finding it here in Central Minnesota. Holiday, a brand that was headquartered in Minnetonka and had at one time more than 500 stores across 10 states, is being rebranded as Circle K, and more rebrands are on the way.

More Rebranded Stores Are On The Way

The changeover from Holiday to Circle K has been an ongoing process for the last 3-4 years since Holiday was purchased by Circle K's parent company, Alimentation Couche-Tard [AC-T], in July of 2017.

At first, AC-T was going to keep the Holiday branding, but since 2022, there has been a slow and methodical rebranding of Holiday stores to Circle K's.

Earlier this year, the Clearwater Holiday, across from the Clearwater Travel Plaza, was rebranded as a Circle K, and just last week the Sartell Holiday was officially switched over to a Circle K.

St. Cloud/Royalton Locations Likely Next

With Sartell and Clearwater seeing changes, it's only a matter of time before we see rebrands in Royalton, where the new station opened up last year, as well as St. Cloud's stores all get new signage on canopies as well as on the pumps.

Recently, new paint has been applied to the I-94 Holiday posts holding up the canopy, and it appears there are several semi-trailers parked near the diesel pumps, which might contain the new signage for that location.

Most Stations Already Are Selling Circle K Products

As is the case with both the I-94 Holiday and the Royalton store, Circle K branding has already been featured inside the stores; it's now just about getting Circle K up outside the stores.

History of Holiday in Minnesota

The Holiday brand goes back to the 1930's when the Erickson family owned stores in Wisconsin and Minnesota. In 2013, the brand was bought by SuperAmerica, based at the time out of Rochester, Minnesota, before it was sold to AC-T in 2017.

While it's a change that has been ongoing for the last 4 years, it will be strange for some Minnesotans to see only Circle K's where we once saw Holiday's.
