The first game of the Twins home season starts on Thursday. If you're going to the game, the stadium might look a little different than what you're used to. The stadium has gone through a few upgrades and renovations since last year.

The MLB website says Gate 34 has been totally renovated to include two more entry points to cut down on congestion (thank goodness). I was at the home opener last year and the line was so long that I missed the very start of the game. They expanded their outdoor canopy in that area to provide more shade during security checks and ticket scanning.

The bigger change that you'll notice will probably be the giant green turf area that encompasses more than 5,600 square feet of space. They hope this area will be a place where kids can play and people can gather. It's located right outside of 'The Market'. The Market is also a new space that'll be used for a variety of different things, like housing merchants, autograph signings, food sales, etc. It all depends on what they've got going on at that time.

It sounds like the upgrades are actually going to be pretty cool. The Twins also announced more family friendly concession prices this year. I'm not sure what's gotten into them, at Target Field, but I'm LOVING IT.
