This past weekend was the Minnesota State Wrestling Tournament for 2017 at the Xcel Energy Center, and I went on Saturday for the individual finals!

Honestly, going into this past Saturday I had NO IDEA what I was in for. I have only ever seen wrestling for a few moments during the Olympics, or maybe on television. But on Saturday, I was at the Xcel Energy Center for five hours watching the high school boys individual finals and it was definitely an experience I won't forget.

The reason why someone like me, who has no wrestling knowledge, was at something so wrestling focused is because my boyfriend Dustin, and his entire family, are deeply rooted in the sport. Dustin wrestled all through high school in La Crescent and Waseca (until a hamstring injury in his junior year), his father coached wrestling for many years, and his older brother is the assistant coach for Lakeville North wrestling.

Needless to say, watching wrestling for that extended period of time, I picked up on some of the moves and lingo. However, that did not stop stupid comments from coming out of my mouth - both embarrassing and hilarious at the same time. But afterwards, anytime I closed my eyes, all I saw was wrestling!

It was a lot of fun to root on all the kids wrestling from Central Minnesota, and to also cheer for my own high school - Apple Valley! Were you there for the State Wrestling Tournament this past weekend? Who were you there to support, and how did they do? Let me know!
