Minnesota Delta Airlines Hiring Surge (There Are Employee Perks)

Well, if you think about it, you could probably predict that this was going to happen. After the beginning of the pandemic basically shut down all travel, most Delta employees were laid off, let go or were put on furlough.

Now, the travel surge has begun and as of June air travel has reached 80+% of where it was pre-pandemic.  People want to get out and go somewhere after spending the better part of a year and a half stuck where they were. But with that, brings the need for more employees for the airlines.

Delta Airlines, which has a hub in Minneapolis, announced that they are planning to hire 3,000 flight attendants between now and summer of 2022.  

That's in addition to another 1,500 workers that made it through the hiring process (they were already in training or had a conditional job offer) before the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020.

The Atlanta based airline announced in June that they were planning to hire many other positions as well. This included reservations and customer service, baggage and cargo workers, pilots, mechanics and technicians.  These people would be placed all over the country.  A Delta spokesperson said they are working on getting people hired and trained as the need for air travel increases so they can best serve their customers.

It's just nice to know that the airlines are seeing an increase in travel.  This is still amid the rise of the Delta-variant of the COVID virus.  Let's all hope we don't take a step backwards.  More and more places are requiring proof of the vaccine or a negative COVID test in order to enter their country (if flying out of the United States) and in some cases places that you go within the U.S. may require proof of vaccine.  Make sure you check the COVID protocols for wherever you are planning to go so you are prepared.
