It’s Another #1 Wednesday!
Who owns the #1 song in America? How 'bout the #1 country album? This week's answers plus a few other number ones in the news...
#1 Country Song: Jason Aldean- Burnin' It Down
The title of the song says it all, as this Georgia Boy Jason is burnin' it down from the top of the country charts for the second week in a row! What may be more impressive is that the song, written by Rodney Clawson, Chris Tompkins, and Florida Georgia Line members Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley, has been #1 on the Hot Country Songs Chart for 14 straight weeks, calculating airplay along with digital sales and online streaming! The song can be found on the new album Old Boots, New Dirt, which sat atop the country albums chart last week. Jason has just announced a joint headlining concert in The Cities on July 18th at Target Field.
#1 Country Album: Florida Georgia Line- Anything Goes
Since Tyler & Brian's second full-length album hit stores an online retailers 8 days ago, it sold over 197,000 copies in it's first week! Not only is it the top country album in the nation but this 12-track effort (3 bonus tracks in the Target deluxe version) is at the top of the Billboard 200 albums chart! Florida Georgia Line is scheduled to headline Moondance Jammin' Country Fest up in Walker July 19-20 2015.
#1 Movie in America: Ouija
At a relatively slow weekend at the movies, the ominous board-game-inspired movie beat out Keanu Reeves' shoot-em-up-bang-bang new movie John Wick for the top spot. Rated only a 4.3 out of a possible 10 by IMDb and only getting a 10% fresh rating by Rotten Tomatoes, it seems like most viewers were lured into this flick by a lack of any other new movie for the Halloween season.
#1 Book: Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
The now-famous fiction novel turned movie blockbuster co-starring Ben Affleck sits at the top of the New York Times Best-Seller List for print & e-book fiction combined. Printed by Crown Publishing in June 2012, the suspenseful thriller has spent 99 weeks on the prestigious reader list!
#1 TV Show: Thursday Night Football on CBS & The NFL Network
Accoring to zap2it.com and yet again for another week, the National Football League proves itself king of the airwaves with the most television viewers on a Thursday night. Closely in 2nd place was NBC's Sunday Night Football. For the NBC game the week before (which I attended in Denver), viewership topped 18 million! CBS took two of the top three spots this past week, with their sitcom The Big Bang Theory coming in third.
