Ok, y'all...I'm pretty free to admit when I'm wrong, but when I'm right- rooftops here I come! And my correctness couldn't have come at a better time for women in country music...

Two days ago, on a #1 Wednesday when I reveal the top country songs and albums in America, it was the first time a female was on top of the country airplay chart since October of 2012! What's almost as good as seeing females succeed again in country music is that I predicted when the song came out 5 months ago, that Maddie & Tae's Girl in a Country Song would make it to #1...and here it is folks!!!

111 weeks is a long time to keep girls waiting, as there were tastes of females at #1 in 2013 with The Band Perry, Lady Antebellum, and Miranda Lambert on Keith Urban's song We Were Us. But not since Carrie Underwood's Blown Away around Halloween 2012 have women been alone at the top. The only other female duo to go #1 with their debut song in the chart's history is The Wreckers with Leave the Pieces in 2006.

This moment reminds me of my radio days in Las Vegas, when also in 2006 a young girl came out with a debut song named after the Indian Outlaw and the rest is history still being made. But Taylor Swift's ballad didn't even make it to #1 back then! 19-year-olds Maddie & Tae have really landed with a splash in our country community. I'm not convinced this is the beginning of the end for "bro-country", considering it's massive crossover fan base, but M &T's #1 song & video are so incredibly creative, I can't wait to see what's next for The Judds of this century. :D
