Four Spots For An Outdoor Concert in MN You Wouldn't Expect

One of my favorite summertime pass-the-day-away kind of things to do is to search for intimate outdoor music venues around central Minnesota. Not just any venue; I'm talking about the small, unique venues that have entertainment, great food or apps, and delicious bevvies, all while enjoying fresh air, greenery, beautiful flowers, and more. Do you know of such a place?

I’ve found a few gems that I think you’ll love too. Each one has its unique charm, and honestly, that’s what makes them so special.

HAVEN HOUSE IN SOUTH HAVEN

Last weekend, I made my first-ever visit to Haven House in South Haven. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but wow! What a find! Tucked away in the middle of nature, this backyard stage belongs to Minnesota singer-songwriter Michael Shynes. It’s small, it’s intimate, and it feels like you’re part of something truly special. At Haven House, you bring your own food, beverage, and blanket or lawn chair, and simply enjoy the show. There are a number of shows booked there this summer, so don't miss your chance to enjoy the beautiful space. Friendly pets are also welcome.

ALPHA & OMEGA IN PRINCETON

Everyone keeps telling me, “You HAVE to go to Alpha & Omega!” So it’s officially on my summer list.

This 38-acre farm in Princeton offers cozy nights under the stars, wood-fired pizzas, and local musicians playing live shows. There’s something extra fun about knowing there are farm animals nearby to add to the experience. It’s the kind of place you don’t fully understand until you see it for yourself.

MOLITOR'S QUARRY IN SAUK RAPIDS

Tucked into a limestone quarry at 3571 5th Ave NE, Molitor’s Quarry brings charm to your evening. Music on the patio every Friday evening, mini-golf, playground for the kids, and a rustic grill-bar atmosphere, it's a magical escape just minutes from St. Cloud. They have music on the patio next to a beautiful fountain, and you can even feed the fish in the pond. Perfect for a laid-back date night under the open sky.

LEGENDS IN ST CLOUD

This cozy, low-key venue thrives on word-of-mouth. Legends features 'Summer Sounds on the Patio' several days a week. Check their FB page for details on performers. They also have an amazing chef that will blow you away with some of the apps and entree's plus you will enjoy the Legend's feel...drink creations that will keep you coming back for more. I'm particularly fond of their Rings & Sunnies. Trust me. You'll love them.

BOULDER CREEK WINE BAR IN SANTIAGO

Two years ago, I discovered Boulder Creek Wine Bar in Santiago. At the time, they were featuring small, intimate groups or solo performers, in the middle of beautiful landscaping, ponds and fountains, plus a game area for the kids. This year, they do not have live music, but they would love to bring it back in the future. Regardless, if you love tasting new and delicious homemade wines, you're gonna love Boulder Creek. I recommend the Wine Slushy. It's the best. The owners are delightful. Check their website for their summer schedule before you go by clicking HERE. They are open on select weekends all summer long.

NORTHERN HOLLOW WINERY IN FOLEY

I'm sure I'm not the only one who can't wait for Northern Hollow Winery to open its doors. I reached out to them, and they are hoping to open sometime this summer. They plan to have live music, delicious foods like panini's and salads, and of course, the wines that we are all looking forward to trying.T hey are building a brand new winery in Foley off of Highway 23, about 1.5 miles west of Foley on your way to St. Cloud, so keep your eyes and ears open for an opening hopefully sometime in July.

Whether it’s a farm, a quarry, or a backyard stage, Central Minnesota has a little something for everyone this summer.
