Not surprisingly, a new survey has revealed that most people use their cell phones for things other than calling people.

UPI conducted this survey and found that making calls on the phone came in sixth place while using it as an alarm clock, checking email and sending/receiving texts all came in ahead of calling.

I would definitely say this is the same way I use my phone.  Outside of work I hardly ever touch a computer.  I do use my phone as an alarm clock and I text like you would not believe.  I get both my work and personal emails on my phone as well. I don't always respond to them unless they're urgent but I at least scan them.

I also spend a lot of time on Facebook and the internet on my phone.  It's too hard not to in the sense of I have all I need in my mobile device and I can easily check out what's going on in the world.  And yes, I do still pick up the phone to actually call people.  Weird, right?

On a more random note -- I'm not sure what the point of this study was because I think there's been at least 100 others just like it.  What did you expect?  There's so many other ways to connect with people, it makes picking up the phone and calling seem ancient.  I'm not saying I agree with it because I definitely don't.

I'm a believer in face-to-face communication and I think someday all of this technology is going to be the downfall of us.  That's neither here nor there, what do you primarily use your phone for?
