There have been so many businesses closing within the last year.  Not all of them have been due to slow business, lack of staffing, or something along those lines.  Some of the businesses and restaurants have closed simply because the owners have retired, and they just decided it was time.

Gartner's Hallmark, which was located basically in the parking lot at Home Dept, closed due to retirement.  But it had been around for as long as I can remember. They used to be located in Crossroads Mall - a few different locations within the mall before making their own brick and mortar location.  Of course you can get greeting cards elsewhere, but Hallmark always had the biggest selection.  Plus the added extra touch of the Hallmark seal.

Other Businesses that have closed this past year:

PARTY CITY - all locations have closed, they say it's mostly due to online sales

JOANN FABRICS - all locations have closed.

OBLIVION COFFEE BAR - They closed after only a year due to building issues

WHIT'S CRAFT BEER - Great concept!  Loved the idea of the pour your own and pay at the end  Great idea.  They closed after almost a year due to lack of revitialization efforts.

MONGO'S GRILL - closed with another Mongolian Grill moving in.  Hu Hot took over the space.

B SOCIAL by BRICK AND BOURBON - this one also really bummed me out.  Didn't seem to work in St. Cloud, but remains open in the Twin Cities area.

FOOD ECSTASY - Located downtown St. Cloud, closed after 39 years.

SLIM CHICKENS - This one closed recently, and kind of suddenly. They were one of the only places, or maybe the only place that served fried okra.  I personally have never had that, but apparently, for the people who like it, it's awesome!

CHINESE PHOENIX EXPRESS - They closed in December of last year.

KID'S HAIR - They closed in September of last year, and had been open for about 24 years.

Unfortunately, these will probably not be the last beloved businesses to close.  Hopefully I'm wrong about that, but just reading the economic climate, it seems to be a trend.
