Another Popular Off Road Vehicle in Minnesota Has A Recall
For those who love to go “off-road”, this is a great time to be alive. There are so many vehicles that will get you where you want to go. And often when you get to wherever that is, you’ll need to clear the path or do some work to get around like you want.
And many of these off-road vehicles are equipped and built to help you get the job done. But doing what needs to be done, has to be done safely, or getting you help could be a bit tricky.
There has been another recall on another popular brand of off-road vehicles. Polaris has recalled their Ranger XD 1500 Off-Road Vehicles (ROV’s) with winches.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission reports that the 2024 model vehicles present a fire risk. The report says that the winch wiring can overheat while in use and start a fire.
The CPSC says that the fire risk could impact riders of the vehicle and their surroundings.
The models affected are those with certain vehicle identification numbers of the 2024 Ranger XD 1500 and the 2024 Ranger Crew XD 1500 ROV’s.
These ROV’s were sold in three seat and six seat configurations which have Polaris stamped on the front grille of the vehicle. The VIN numbers can be found on the driver's side of the vehicle on the rear frame under the cargo box.
The recall involves the 4,500 and 6,000 pound winches that have part numbers 2998275 and 2889276.
There were over 10,500 of the models in question sold. If you have one of these vehicles the Consumer Product Safety Commission says that you should stop using the winch until you can get it repaired.
