Winter Weather Advisory through Sunday Morning
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for portions of central Minnesota in effect from 8 PM tonight through 7 AM Sunday morning -- including Douglas, Kanabec, Mille Lacs, Morrison, and Todd counties.
Total accumulation of 2 to 4 inches is expected in the advisory area, with winds gusting as high as 35 mph. Plan on slippery road conditions. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility.
A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for northern Minnesota tonight, including Detroit Lakes, Moorhead, Bemidji, Grand Rapids, Walker, Hibbing, Duluth, and more -- where 6 to 12 inches of snow is possible.
For the St. Cloud area expect 2 to 4 inches of snow overnight tonight, with blowing snow, especially Sunday morning into the daytime, when winds could gust as high as 30 mph.
Strong northwest winds will develop as a cold front moves through the region Sunday night and Monday. Temperatures in central Minnesota will fall into the single digits behind this front, with wind chills 10 to 20 below zero Monday morning.
From the National Weather Service this evening: An area of snow will develop across central Minnesota this evening and lift northeast through the overnight hours. The best chances for accumulating snow are north of I-94. Temperatures warm on Sunday with chances for additional light rain and snow with strong northwesterly winds during the afternoon. A sharp cold front will move through overnight, with temperatures falling into the single digits by Monday.
