The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for parts of northwestern Minnesota, creeping as close to St. Cloud as Otter Tail County.

The Winter Storm Watch is in effect from 10pm Thursday night through Saturday afternoon.

It could be worse. Parts of eastern North Dakota could see a foot of snow.

Not that I expect to need it this weekend, but I got the snowblower out yesterday, and cleaned it up and got it all ready to go.

From the National Weather Service this morning: A major winter storm is expected to impact the Dakotas starting tonight. We may see some lighter accumulations into western Minnesota Friday night, while snow showers Saturday will bring most of us our first sight of snowflakes this season, though with minimal accumulations.

Pete Hanson is on 98.1 Minnesota’s New Country weekday mornings from 5:30 to 10:00.
