While Hunters Chase Deer, MN Ski Slopes Ready For Winter Fun
Buck fever gripped a majority of Minnesota this past weekend with the firearm deer opener; other Minnesotans are eagerly awaiting another fall tradition, the opening of ski slopes and tubing hills across the land of 10,000 flakes. With the recent snowfall across portions of Minnesota this weekend, several ski hill operators are already starting to make snow. Here are a few of the Minnesota-based hills that are starting to create that base layer.
Midwest Skiing Is Still A Popular Winter Activity
While the Midwest and, for that matter, Minnesota, isn't particularly known as a skiing hotbed, there are places in both Minnesota and the Midwest that do offer some great skiing experiences for those looking. A social media account flashed a graphic today that showed the Midwest ski slopes that are either open, making snow, or are still closed for the year. Surprisingly, there were about 14 within driving distance of parts of Minnesota that are now making snow, with just two ski slopes being open.
I went to the website for Midwest Skiers and noticed that one of the two slopes open for the year wasn't too far away, with Andes Tower Hills, which opened on Sunday, and Wild Mountain, which opened today at 1pm.

Closer to St. Cloud, Powder Ridge is making snow, as are 11 other ski slopes.
