Twins Trade Reliever Kintzler to Nationals Before Deadline

The Minnesota Twins traded their All-Star relief pitcher Brandon Kintzler to the Washington Nationals prior to today's trade deadline. In exchange the Twins get 20-year-old Class A left-hander Tyler Watson and $500,000.

Yesterday the Twins traded newly acquired left-handed starter Jaime Garcia to the Yankees. Garcia joined Minnesota just days earlier in a trade with Atlanta.

The Twins have lost six of their last seven games, and now trail the Cleveland Indians by 7.0 games in the American League Central (just 1.5 games a week ago).

Minnesota opens a quick two-game series tomorrow night against the Padres in San Diego.
