Yee haw! Or as we say in Minnesota, you betcha! The Minnesota State Fair has been nominate for an Academy of Country Music Award.

You might be thinking, how in the heck did that happen? For the first time ever, the ACM's have a category for Fair/Rodeo of the Year, and since the MN State Fair is great at getting big name country acts for their Grandstand series, it secured itself in the top five in the country.

Here is who our beloved fair is competing against:

  • California Mid-State Fair in Paso Robles, CA
  • Cheyenne Frontier Days in Cheyenne, WY
  • Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in Houston, TX
  • Minnesota State Fair in St. Paul, MN
  • San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo in San Antonio, TX

We are the only nominee that isn't from the traditional "wild west", so there is a lot of pressure on our fair to proudly represent the Midwest, and show the rest of the country that Minnesota truly is a country music state.

One of the first country acts announced for the Grandstand this year is Tim McGraw bringing the Here on Earth Tour to Minnesota. Midland and Ingrid Andress will be joining him for that show.

The ACM Awards are Sunday April 6th on CBS, and will be hosted by Keith Urban.
