Survey Shows What Minnesotans Plan on Buying for Christmas

The 15^th annual St. Thomas Holiday Spending Survey is out, and it looks like Minnesotans are poised to spend at record levels on Christmas 2016. Here's what we said we're giving for gifts this year.

1. Gift certificates/cards
2. Travel and events (including plays and shows)
3. Cash
4. Clothing/accessories
5. Books
6. Entertainment products (recorded music and movies)
7. Toys and hobbies
8. Computer-related
9. Sporting goods
10. Cell or mobile phones
11. Consumer electronics
12. Furniture/furnishings
13. Jewelry
14. Video game-related

Minnesotans were asked to list two stores and two websites where they planned to shop. Among stores, the five most popular were Target, Macy's, Kohl’s, Herberger's and Best Buy. As for websites, the five most popular were Amazon, Target, eBay, Macy's and Best Buy.
