Snow Forecast for This Coming Winter in Minnesota
Most people who live in this area, meaning the Midwest, look forward to at least some snow. Like enough snow so that people can play in it. Snowmobile, ski, snow board, or any other sort of winter activities. Also - most want it at least cold enough so you can still ice fish safely. There are also several winter events that do depend on the snow and cold that we normally get here in Minnesota.
Last year was an issue. I personally was totally alright with the weather. But, I realize that there was a lot of winter revenue that was lost because of the crazy mild winter. Hopefully, mostly because of that, we will have a winter closer to a "normal Minnesota winter".
So, what's the forecast for now? According to NOAA, Minnesota COULD (because they never really know for sure) have a bit more snow than normal. Normal is about 55 or so inches througout the winter. Last year we had less than 30 and the year before that we had around 90 inches of snow. That was too much. Most of that "above normal" snowfall looks to be towards the Eastern side of Minnesota and into Wisconsin.
This map is showing prediction for early 2025. The heavier snow seems mostly outside of Minnesota.
The official NOAA prediction for Winter is scheduled to have an update on October 17th. At that time we will be able to see if this is still accurate, or if things have changed with some updated information. But right now, if you like Winter snow activities, you may have a good Winter this year.
