For the second straight summer, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is putting a 'Catch & Release' only policy into effect for Walleyes caught on Lake Mille Lacs. This according to reports from KSTP-TV who have reportedly received confirmation from the Mille Lacs Fisheries Advisory Council.

The restrictions have been put in place to try to reverse a trend of diminishing Walleye populations in the lake.

The policy has caused much debate between anglers, resorts, and businesses near the lake who claim the restrictions are unnecessary and unfair -- and area tribes who support the restrictions to protect the fish population.

Some winter fishing on the lake will see their season come to an official end next weekend.
