We're slowing getting things back together with our new house after a fire destroyed our previous one back in February.  Last night put us one step closer to 'normal' again.

My mom and I had to run some errands and when we came home my dad had finished a garden in the front of our house.  He does landscaping for a living and always comes up with creative ideas.  This one happens to involve a little bit of our life pre-fire.

The basket looking planter is something that was salvaged from our garage, I believe.  It used to be white with pink and blue on the bows and flowers.  Now, it's got a bit of black on it from being scorched.

The bench is my favorite part of this garden -- this was sitting on our front porch.  It was deep shiny brown color and now it's got a more rusted look to it.  The pink looking rock on the left isn't something that survived the fire but it's one of the few family heirlooms we have left.  I know, a rock isn't really an heirloom but I know this came from my dad's parent's house and it had been passed to them by another family member.

I think this garden is pretty brilliant.  It shows a new life with a bit of the past weaved in and that's how I'll always look at it.
