As long as I can remember, Christmas cookies always just appeared at my grandma's house for Christmas Eve. And not just one or two types either. Platters and platters of different cookies would be set out and passed around the table. But I never thought about all the work that went into those treats!

This year I got really into cooking and baking so I decided to make a "cookie date" with my grandma to help her with the holiday baking. My mom, aunt, and three-year-old cousin also decided to join in on the fun! We spent Sunday morning making over 200 cookies, caramels, and fudge filled cookie bars, and we are already planning to do it again next year! It really makes you appreciate all the hard work and love that goes into Christmas baking.
