A Minnesota VFW in the Twin Cities is looking for a little help from their friends. Someone found a Purple Heart belonging to who we think is a Minnesota man, now the VFW is trying to get the Purple Heart back where it belongs, with the soldier or his family.

It's odd that this medal, which is given to those who were wounded or killed in action, would be found in someone else's personal belongings. Regardless of how it ended up where it was found, let's see if we can't help this Minnesota VFW reunite this medal with where it belongs.

How does someone earn a Purple Heart medal?

According to the United Service Organizations website:

The Purple Heart medal is presented to service members who have been wounded or killed as a result of enemy action while serving in the U.S. military. A Purple Heart is a solemn distinction and means a service member has greatly sacrificed themselves, or paid the ultimate price, while in the line of duty.
