I’ve known I wanted to do radio since I was 16 years old. It’s not uncommon for a teenager to decide on their career choice at that young age. My first night on the air was October 1st, 1988, and this is mainly what I’ve done ever since.

One of my goals was to be able to broadcast sports, and I was able to see that dream come true as well. First starting at the high school level, and then working at the Division 1 and Division 2 levels in college, along with broadcasting some games in the old “NBDL” that is now known as the “G League”.

I’m so excited to be broadcasting Sauk Rapids Rice High School football this fall on KXSS Radio; I just love working in Sports.

The Minnesota Twins are hosting the 2024 Sports Internship and Career Fair on September 24th from 11am to 2pm at Target Field.

The cost is $25 and for that you get admission into the internship and career fair, plus you get a ticket to that night’s game versus the Miami Marlins, and a voucher for a Pepsi and a hot dog.

In the past in addition to the Twins internships, other sports teams that have been represented in the past include The Vikings, Wild, Timberwolves, and Lynx.

The St. Paul Saints and other minor leagues have been on hand in the past as well. Minor league baseball is a great way to get into the industry, so keep that in mind if you’re thinking about checking out the fair.

Here is the link to buy tickets.

One piece of advice, if you really want to get into sports and you're going to the event, go prepared, have plenty of copies of your resume on hand. I would suggest dressing to impress. I’ve always worked under the idea that it’s hard to overdress if you want to make a good first impression.

If it’s always been in the back of your mind, or you have a child who wants to get into the sports field, this is a great opportunity to get noticed and possibly some experience.
