National Weather Service Calling For 4+ Inches Of Snow Before Arctic Air Hits MN
The snow has already started flying in Central Minnesota, and when the clipper system is done, we could be seeing anywhere between 4 and 8 inches of new snow across portions of Minnesota. You're going to want to get out and clear the snow as soon as you can, as an arctic blast is expected to follow, just in time for the weekend.
Winds Tuesday Night Into Wednesday Will Cause Visibility Issues
Winds Tuesday night into Wednesday are predicted to be consistently 10-20 mph, but could gust as high as 30-35 mph. Any snow that has fallen will be blown around, making travel difficult for motorists.
Dangerous Cold Predicted To Follow Mid-December Storm
According to the National Weather Service on X, the system will drop between 4 and 8 inches of new snow, with localized snowfall for the St. Cloud area being in the 3-6" category.

Those traveling during rush hour can expect weather-related delays, and area school districts were already releasing students early in anticipation of the incoming weather.
Following the snow, Central Minnesotans will have about 36 hours to get everything cleaned up before the brutal cold grips the area for the weekend. The low on Saturday night is predicted to -18.
Temperatures should be back to 'average' by Monday, but anyone who is celebrating the holidays early or traveling should make sure they have packed winter survival items in their vehicles, with lows well below zero.
