The Small Luxuries Minnesotans Say Are Worth Every Penny
Are there some things in your life that you won't accept anything but the genuine thing? Maybe it's a pop brand, or when you do go out to eat, it has to be at Blank's restaurant because they make the best turnovers. There are some small luxuries out there that many of us would say are worth it.
Small Luxuries That Are 'Worth It'
Everyone might not agree with all five of the small luxuries that are listed below, but I think there is at least one on this list that you'll agree is worth it. Tell us what your small luxuries are in the comments!
- Drive-Thru Coffee - For a lot of us Minnesotans, spending anywhere between $6–8 on coffee feels justified because it’s less about caffeine and more about routine. Those long winter days or hectic parenting mornings make that quick stop at Caribou Coffee or Starbucks feel like a small reward before the day starts.
- A Lake Cabin Weekend - Gas, groceries, dock fees, boat repairs, and cabin upkeep add up fast, but Minnesotans still prioritize lake weekends. Sitting by the water, grilling at sunset, and unplugging from work is considered worth the cost for many families. Although it seems like some families are rethinking that drive to the cabin.
- Premium Seats at a Summer Country Concert - Whether it’s lawn seats upgraded to closer rows or paying extra for VIP parking, fans often say the convenience and experience are worth it. Artists like Scotty McCreery, Thomas Rhett, or Bailey Zimmerman turn concerts into full summer events in Minnesota.
- Buying The Good Meat or Cheese - Minnesotans will cut corners elsewhere before giving up quality brats, steak, cheese curds, or smoked meats from local butcher shops and small town meat markets. Summer grilling season especially makes this feel like money well spent.
- Paying for Snow Removal - After enough brutal winters, many homeowners decide that snow blowing and shoveling simply aren’t worth the physical hassle anymore. Hiring someone to clear the driveway after a heavy snowfall becomes one of those “worth every penny” luxuries.

OK, the snow removal one gets me, as living in the land of 10,000 snowflakes, to me, it's a rite of passage to blow or shovel your driveway/sidewalk. But I get it if you can't physically do it; hiring someone to take care of it makes complete sense.
