Minnesota Ranks in Top 10 Places to Retire in 2021
When many people think of retirement and possible locations is Minnesota ever truly on the list? I guess if you live here that is one thing, but are people actually flocking to Minnesota for their retirement years?
I think the safe bet on that one is, no. Now, I am not near retirement age but the first locations I think of are Florida, Texas, and Arizona. Wherever it is, it would be somewhere that I won't be forced to shovel out six inches of snow in the winter.
Knowing myself, I'll most likely stay right here in Minnesota, and that is going to work out just fine if things stay the way they are because Minnesota ranked as the 9th best state to retire in for 2021.
Our friends at Wallet Hub completed the study that looked at 45 key metrics including affordability, quality of life, and health care. Minnesota ranked 37th in affordability, 3rd in quality of life, and 2nd in health care.
When diving deeper into some of the key factors, Minnesota performed well in life expectancy and health-care facilities per capita.
Retiring in Minnesota (1=Best; 25=Avg.):
• 28th – WalletHub ‘Taxpayer’ Ranking
• 4th – Elderly-Friendly Labor Market
• 25th – Property-Crime Rate
• 4th – Life Expectancy
• 4th – Health-Care Facilities per Capita
• 4th – COVID-19 Positive Testing Rate in the Past Week
So, Wallet Hub really didn't take weather into account on this, either. North Dakota was #5, South Dakota #13, Iowa #16, and Wisconsin #19. I guess sticking in the midwest isn't so bad after all. Check out the full list here.
