Minnesota DoorDash drivers and businesses are being called by scammers this week, as reports of a 'support call' scam start to pile up, including here in Central Minnesota. Here's what we know, and what you should do if you are being targeted by the scammers.

Fake Support Calls Targeting DoorDash Drivers/Businesses

Reports of fake DoorDash support calls have been popping up across the Twin Cities as well as here in St. Cloud. I was recently at a business in St. Cloud, where a manager was on the phone with what seemed like a DoorDash driver. The manager ended the call by telling the caller they were busy and couldn't help. According to the manager, that was the 5th time that day the 'driver' had called the store.

Fox 9 reports that drivers are getting 'support' calls from scammers who then "steal their hard-earned money", after getting account information from the drivers.

How To Protect Yourself

No matter if you drive for DoorDash, UberEats, or are just a regular person, the number one thing you can do to protect yourself is no matter who is calling you, don't give up personal information or multi-factor authenticator codes to callers. If you didn't request the code, ignore or delete the email or text.

DoorDash notes to customers and drivers that customer support will never ask you for your password, verification codes, or personal bank details over the phone or text.

However, if you are having an issue and you are contacted about a legitimate order issue, do not respond directly. Instead, hang up and reach out to DoorDash using the official Dasher Help Center or contact their customer support line directly from your app.
