Local ski areas are feverishly making snow -- enough so that they are now open (in varying degrees) for you to hit the slopes with your skis & boards. With fresh snow in the weekend forecast, many outdoor enthusiasts are excited to celebrate another Minnesota winter.

Powder Ridge: Kimball, MN

• Now open.
• Their snowmaking crew continues to work around the clock to open runs as fast as they can. Single Cedar, Teachers Pet and The Chute are open. They have terrain features set up on the left side of Teachers Pet. Tubing will open closer to Christmas.

• Now open just west of Alexandria.
• They're busy making snow at ATH. Turtle Express, Hawaiian Cruise, and Frikadilly runs are open with more expected this weekend.

Buena Vista Ski Area: Bemidji, MN

• Opening this weekend.
• They're making snow with seven snow guns running 24-7.

• Opening Day scheduled for Friday, December 16th.
• New snow guns are working feverishly to crank out the snow.
