If you've lived here long enough, chances are you've attended or participated in a meat raffle. They are a great way to pass a Saturday or Sunday afternoon at your favorite establishment, and if you get lucky, you'll take home something good. One Minnesota bar hosted what could be the first-ever 'honor system' raffle, and it was an interesting event to see.

What Is An Honor System Raffle?

Well, as the name suggests, it's a raffle, but rather than hand out tickets or numbers, you operate on an honor system. The person holding the raffle will think of a number between 1 and 100, and those participating will do the same. After a short bit of time, the person raffling off the cuts of meat, etc, says the number that they had in mind, and if it matches someone's in attendance, they win the meat.

Honest Midwestern Folk

It's hard to believe that this actually happened this fall, judging by the wall decorations in this X video. But if you are ready for it, here is the first honor system raffle, for some steaks.

I don't think that this honor system raffle would work in every Minnesota bar out there, but for some small town or the right dive bar, it definately would be something to try and see if you get the same results.
